Self-love is one of the best gifts that you can give to yourself. Loving yourself can make you a better version of you, but it is not as easy as it seems. When you look at yourself in the mirror, most people see their flaws instead of the good things that they possess. The less you love yourself, the more insecure you will become. Loving yourself takes time. You will have to undergo the process. Loving yourself doesn’t always mean that you have to dress nicely, eat healthy foods, and do other activities that would make you feel good. Accepting your flaws and mistakes is also considered to be part of your self-love journey.

Learning to love yourself will never be easy, but it is totally worth it. With that, here are five ways that can help you practice self-love:

1. Avoid Talking About Yourself In A Negative Manner

Some of you already feel that your own thoughts are your biggest enemy. Sometimes, we can’t help but listen to the voice in our head that says you are not good enough. If you have a lot of negative thoughts that are going on inside of your mind, there’s a chance that it could affect how you treat yourself.

To avoid that, you have to stop entertaining negative thoughts. Writing your affirmations on a sheet of paper can help you think more positive thoughts. For instance, you are thinking that you are not doing well in your studies. You can counteract to that thought by saying something positive to yourself, such as, “I will do my best to improve this subject.” After that, repeat the positive affirmations to yourself frequently.

2. You Have To Believe In Yourself

When you believe in yourself, everything will be possible. Don’t let self-doubt hinder you from achieving your goals. Believe in your skills, abilities, and passion because it will pave the way toward your dreams. Remember to be kind to yourself and don’t be afraid to make mistakes, because they will help you grow on whatever path you choose.

3. Practice Self-Care

Taking care of ourselves both mentally and physically is a necessity in self-love. Having daily self-care can make you feel better. Here are some examples of self-care activities:

● Exercise for at least 20 minutes a day
● Meditate
● Try to learn something new
● Spend more time with friends
● Get regular massages
● Volunteer for a good cause
● Go on a vacation, even for a couple of days

Visualizing the life that you want to have can be a form of motivation to ourselves to work harder. But, in order to get a picture of your dream, you have to know what exactly you want to happen in your life and the reason why you want it. In that way, you will have a clear vision of your dreams and goals even if they are not happening yet.

5. Take Action To Achieve Your Goals

A dream without action remains a dream. Pursuing your dream is considered a big act of self-love. It is fulfilling to see yourself achieve your dreams despite experiencing a lot of hardships and obstacles along the way. To make your dreams become reality, you have to know your goals. After that, have a plan on how you will make it. Having a plan will help you to focus on the things that you want to achieve. You have to remember that taking action is an important step if you want to be successful. Even the small steps you take can make a huge difference in your life.
